Features

Structurally Rebuilt

NEW Pin Block - hard rock maple block with grain running at crossed angles to support the tuning pins - secured to stretcher; custom close fit to ensure superior tuning stability

New bass and treble bridge caps - duplicated to match original specs and made from the finest rock maple.  Graphite top will be applied for proper string movement - steel pins tapped into the bridge caps to hold proper side bearing, and bridge caps carefully beveled to ensure a clean string speaking length

NEW Soundboard - using the finest spruce tonewood that matches the original material used, repair & maintain soundboard and ribs in order to withstand the thousands of pounds of downbearing necessary for good tone.  Artwork applied where appropriate.

New tuning pins - finest steel, rust resistant pins properly drilled into pinblock with wire coiled and beckets properly set.  Proper angle of pins will be set to ensure tuning stability.

New bass strings - custom wound using solid copper windings matching the original specifics

New treble strings - made of high tensile steel, with proper gauge wire used at every register

Refinished

Reguild & Redress Cast-Iron Plate – Apply black lacquer to lettering and dress plate with high quality virgin wool felt dyed to customary Steinway hue

Wash Piano to bare wood – fine sand all cabinet parts and repair loose veneer, fill any imperfections.  Apply priming coats to hold the new stain

Apply Stain – Evenly applied new stain with visual beauty in mind,  appropriate art work where applicable – Hand rub many layers of material to create texture of finish 

Repair Loose Veneer - remove veneer on lower sides of cabinet.  Apply new matching veneers

Clean all Hardware – Either re-plate or buff all hardware pieces where appropriate

Action Replacement

New Hammer Shanks, Flanges - All action parts are duplicated to match the geometrical standard set by Steinway.  Parts will be made to 100% accuracy of original design.  Action frame will be cleaned and repaired where necessary for all parts to move with ease

New Hammers - custom made by Steinway, fully prepped, hung, traveled, and voiced for superior tone

New Dampers - finest virgin wool, custom cut, regulated, and installed

Regulation of action to manufacturer's specification - including key height, let off, drop, after touch, key dip, spring tension, and key stop rail

Rebush Key Fronts & Centers – replaced felt material for proper key movement

Regulate Dampers - including damper lift and stop rail

Overhaul and regulate pedals and lyre - including damper, sostenuto, and una corda pedals, trap work, and assembly

Custom Hammer Voicing - complete tonal regulation by softening or hardening of hammer felt to smooth out all registers and build power of tone

Tune to A440 – several tunings to assure stability of strings
