Xuelin Wang, Piano Teacher at Cunningham Music School

At Cunningham Music School, we are proud to introduce Xuelin Wang, a distinguished pianist, educator, and scholar whose lifelong dedication to music has shaped an impressive international career. With a deep-rooted passion for both performance and education, Xuelin brings a wealth of experience to her students, inspiring them to discover the joy of playing the piano.

A Musical Journey That Began at Three

Xuelin’s love for music started early—at just three years old, she picked up the accordion before transitioning to the piano at the age of five. By the time she was 13, she had already set her sights on professional training, earning a place at the affiliated high school of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Her formative years were shaped by rigorous study and performance, setting the stage for a remarkable career.

A Scholar and Performer with International Experience

Xuelin pursued her higher education at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, specializing in Music Theory and Piano Performance. Her studies took her across the world—from China to the United States and back—broadening her artistic perspective and deepening her expertise. In 2024, she further refined her craft under the mentorship of Charles Abramovic, Chair of the Keyboard Department at Temple University.

Throughout her journey, Xuelin has had the privilege of working with renowned musicians and educators, including Latin American pianist and educator Maria del Pico Taylor, Michael Gurt (Chair of the Piano Department at Louisiana State University), Daniel Epstein (professor at Manhattan School of Music and Rutgers University), and Grammy Award-winning pianist Dr. Angelin Chang.

A Celebrated Performer on Global Stages

Xuelin’s performance career has taken her to some of the world’s most prestigious venues. She has performed at New York’s Lincoln Center Plaza, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, and The Edge in Melbourne, Australia. Whether as a soloist, chamber musician, or accompanist, her artistry has captivated audiences worldwide. Her solo recitals and graduation concerts in 2018, 2019, and 2023 showcase her versatility and extensive performance experience.

A Passion for Music Education

Beyond performance, Xuelin has dedicated herself to music education, believing that learning the piano is more than just mastering an instrument—it’s a transformative process that fosters critical thinking, motivation, and a love for music. While in the U.S., she completed a Master’s in Piano Education, studying under Professor Maria Taylor and exploring pedagogical approaches such as the Suzuki and Alexander methods.

Her teaching experience is extensive, spanning private lessons, group instruction, and classroom settings. She has worked with students of all ages, from young beginners to adults, and has served as a piano accompanist and choir instructor. Her dedication to excellence in teaching is further demonstrated by her certifications in Teaching in Higher Education and the Taubman Piano Technique.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Musicians

Xuelin believes that every child has the potential to excel in music. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes not just technical skills, but also creativity, confidence, and personal growth. Through her guidance, students at Cunningham Music School have the opportunity to learn from a pianist whose experience, passion, and commitment to education make her an invaluable mentor.

We are thrilled to have Xuelin Wang as part of our faculty and invite students to embark on their own musical journey under her expert instruction.
