Cunningham Piano Company has been around since 1891, and for much of its early history it made some of the finest American-built pianos. After World War 2, the company shifted its focus to restoring and rebuilding old pianos to make them like new.
A little over 10 years ago, Cunningham returned to building its own brand of pianos - the 5'10" Cunningham Parlour Grand is the culmination of years of restoration expertise, custom redesigns of most of the major piano components (soundboard, bridge placement, sand-cast frame, custom built Abel hammers), and collaboration with esteemed piano scale designer Frank Emerson, who has done piano scale design work for the likes of Baldwin, Mason & Hamlin, and currently works with Steinway & Sons.
There's a remarkable richness to the sound of the Cunningham Parlour Grand and a tonal palette that one would expect from a premium brand piano at a much higher price point. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
